Pause capture, work hours, and idle time

Pause on demand, pause outside your working days and hours, and pause when idle.

Pause capture from the desktop app, or set rules that pause it for you, such as outside your working days and hours.

Pause now

On the Home screen, select the pause button to pause until you resume. To pause for a set time, select the clock button beside it (Pause for a duration) and choose 15m, 30m, 1h, or Until I resume.

From the macOS menu bar, select Pause, then optionally choose when to resume: 15m, 30m, 1h, or Tomorrow. On Windows and Linux, open Pause in the tray menu and choose For 15 minutes, For 30 minutes, For 1 hour, Rest of today, or Until I turn it back on.

Pause outside your working days and hours

  1. Open Work schedule
Go to Settings → Pausing and find Work schedule.
  2. Turn it on
Turn on Pause outside work hours.
  3. Choose your days
Select the days capture should run. Monday to Friday is selected by default, so weekends stay paused. Deselect any other day you don’t work.
  4. Set your hours
Enter a start and end time. Select + Add Shift for a split day, such as a morning and an evening block. The same shifts repeat on each selected day.

Outside your schedule, capture pauses on its own. If you resume by hand, capture runs until midnight or your next scheduled start.

Pause after inactivity

Under Settings → Pausing → Inactivity, choose how many idle minutes pass before capture pauses, then select Save. The default is 5 minutes. Meetings keep recording while this idle rule is active.

Set a keyboard shortcut

Under Settings → Pausing → Keyboard shortcut, click the field, press the keys you want to use to pause and resume from any app, then select Save.

Get reminded while paused

Remind me while paused sets how often Timeglass reminds you when capture is paused until you resume.

Account for breaks

In the After a break settings, with Ask about breaks when you're back turned on, Timeglass shows a small card when you return and offers to add the time away as an activity. Use Break length and Only during working hours to control when it asks.
