Projects & clients
Create, edit, or duplicate a project
Set the scope, client, type, billing, and budget, or copy an existing project.
Create a project when you want to set its scope, client, type, budget, and billing yourself. Only the name is required.
Create a project
- Open Projects & ClientsSelect Projects & Clients in the main navigation, then select Create.
- Add the project detailsEnter the Project Name and an optional description. Choose a Client and Project Type when your workspace uses them. You can type a new client name to create the client at the same time.
- Choose the scopeUnder Assign To, choose Whole Workspace or Team. Workspace projects can be used by every team. Team projects only take time tracked on that team.
- Set billing and budgetUnder Billing, choose Hourly, Fixed fee, or Non-billable. For an hourly project, Rate sets where the rate comes from: Match client (needs a client), Member rates, Custom rates, Activity rates, or Flat rate, which adds a field for the amount. You see Rate only if you can manage project financials. Enter an optional budget in hours or in your workspace currency.
- Save the projectSelect Create Project.
Create a client or project type
Select the arrow beside Create and choose Client or Project Type. A client needs only a name. A project type can limit which activity categories its projects use.
Create a project from a timesheet
When you assign an activity and the project doesn’t exist yet, type its name in the project picker and select Create project “name”. The creation form opens with the name filled in.
Edit a project
In the list, open the project’s actions menu and select Edit details to change the name, description, client, or time target. In the project details, select Edit for the name and description, or select the team, client, type, or billing beside the title to change it directly.
Duplicate a project
Select Duplicate project from the actions menu. Timeglass creates an active copy named after the original with “(copy)” added, keeping its description, client, type, and team. Billing and budget carry over if you can manage project financials, and a time target only when there is no money budget. An archived client or type is left off. It works on completed projects too, so you can start next year’s engagement from last year’s.
