Exports
Run an export
Choose the filters, columns, and format for a new export.
The export workbench lets you choose the rows, columns, filters, and file format for each export, with a live preview as you work.
Create an export
- Open the workbenchGo to Exports and select New export.
- Choose a file typeUse the file type menu beside the file name to choose .csv, .xlsx, or .pdf.
- Filter the timeSet the Period, choose Time included, and narrow Contributors, Projects, Clients, or Categories.
- Shape the fileOpen the columns button to add, remove, rename, or reorder fields. Select Sort to order the rows. The preview updates as you work.
- Create and downloadSelect Create CSV, Create Excel, or Create PDF. When the export is ready, open it from your history and select Download CSV, Download XLSX, or Download PDF.
Period shortcuts
The period picker offers This week, Last week, Last 2 weeks, This month, Last month, 1st–15th, 16th–end of month, and Last quarter, or any custom range.
Sort the rows
Select Sort, then Add field to pick a column and a direction, such as A to Z, Oldest first, or Largest first. Sorts apply top to bottom, and later sorts break ties. Drag a sort to change its priority. Without a sort, rows use the export’s standard order.
Manage export history
- Find an export: search by name, or use Filters to narrow by Team, Created by (Anyone or Me), or Reporting period.
- Repeat an export: on a finished export that hasn’t expired, select Run again to start a new export with the same settings for the next matching period. Some older exports reopen on the same period.
- Rebuild an old file: a file that has expired or failed shows Export again.
- Work in bulk: select several exports to download or delete them together.
Common questions
Which export do I use for payroll?
Choose Approved time. Keep First name, Last name, Email, Period start, Period end, and Hours, or add Full name. Remove Team and the work columns, such as Activity group and Project, so each person gets one row.
Can I sort the rows in an export?
Yes. Select Sort, then Add field to choose a column and direction. Sorts apply top to bottom, and later sorts break ties.
An old export says Expired. Can I get it back?
Open it and select Export again. Timeglass rebuilds the file with the same settings.
Can I export straight into QuickBooks or Gusto?
There’s no built-in QuickBooks or Gusto connector. Export a CSV, Excel, or PDF file and import it there, or have a workspace admin connect your tool through the Timeglass API or webhooks, which can send approved time automatically.
